TARMAC TITLE: After the Manx the outcome of the Tarmac championship will surely be settled on the Ulster Rally unless disaster befalls Eamomn Boland.
GRAND TOURISH: Round four of the Misubishi Challenge Ireland saw Damien Tourish and Domhall McAlleny record their first ever victory in the one-make series.
RAVEN'S ROCK: Trading places and times throughout the day, Ray Breen and Martin Brady took a 9sec win, reeling in Patrick Elliott on the penultimate stage.

DEVASTATED: Irish rally drivers have had a long and successful history of competing in, and winning, one-make rally championships. Last October Philip Morrow became the third Irish driver to win the Mitsubishi Evo Challenge in five years, and while he had no outright victories to celebrate, no one expected Mitsubishi Motorsport to terminate his contract. 'I'm angry. I'm gobsmacked and I'm devastated,' he said. 'This has been my goal for the past four years and I poured my heart and soul, and a lot of money, into winning my dream drive. Now its all over without any warning.'
It came like a bolt from the blue, and, given the number of Mitsubishis rallying in Ireland, has done damage to the Japanese manufacturer's popularity and has seen a boycott of Evo Challenge events by local drivers. A furious Richard Cathcart (right) has vowed 'never to set his backside in a Mitsubishi again,' and has pulled out of the series because he and other competitors have been led up the garden path. 'We've been strung along until the season is more than half over and now they tell us there will be no works drive for the winner next season.'

BIG PLANS ON TRACK: John Eastwood is heading up a new company which has acquired Nutts Corner circuit and plans to develop it into a centre of excellence for kart racing, with hopes to get it up to European CIK standards.

IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT: Lawrence Gibson began his motorsport career in Autocross and Oval racing at Shamrock Park, and has rallied an ex-works TR7V8, rallycrossed Minis, done hillclimbs and sprints, on his way winning the British Rallycross championship in 2000.

JAPANESE STYLE: Alan (Chubby) McCord's eye-catching Nissan is no ordinary 200SX with a 6-litre 570bhp power unit and 10inch wide wheels.

SHACKLETON OFF TO A FLYER: Pics galore from the Shackleton Charity Festival which was a credit to everyone involved including the Maiden City Motor Club and sponsor KPL who featured events from both two and four wheel competitors in Irish motorsport over the three days.

LOUGHGALL FESTIVAL: Sponsors Wilsons Auctions brought an additional interest to the park with a classic car auction, to add to the thrills and spills of the Historic Rally Car Challenge.

FINE FOCUS: Aisling Devlin's Ford Focus ST3 is a car that gets noticed, but underneath its bright orange paintwork lies some serious installation work, like a 300bhp performance package and a Bilstein suspension upgrade.
